An insight into Tanguy Ndombele’s stance on playing for Tottenham again following him asking to leave over the summer has emerged on Friday.
Ndombele asks to leave
Tottenham would sign Ndombele from Lyon in 2019 for a club-record €60m.
Ndombele would not hit the ground running at Spurs, with the midfielder seemingly struggling to adapt to the aggressive nature of the Premier League and its physical demands.
But when Jose Mourinho left the club and was replaced by Nuno Espirito Santo, some Tottenham fans were no doubt hopeful we would finally see the best of Ndombele in a Spurs shirt.
However, this has not yet happened, with Nuno leaving the midfielder out of all of his pre-season games and all of Spurs’ competitive ties so far this term.
The reason for these omissions would become clear, when it was reported that Ndombele had actually asked to leave the Lilywhites this summer:
Ndombele’s stance on playing for Tottenham
In the end, no transfer would transpire, with Ndombele now set to be at Tottenham until at least the January window.
This appeared to have left the Frenchman in a rather precarious position, and with Spurs fans no doubt wondering if Ndombele would actually want to or be given the chance to play for their club once again.
However, as mentioned above, an insight into Ndombele’s stance on playing for the north Londoners again has emerged on Friday.
And, for those Spurs fans still keen on Ndombele, it does look to be good news.
As per the Evening Standard, Ndombele wants to fight for his place at Tottenham and is hopeful of making his first appearance of the season in the next week.
The 24-year-old is said to have trained all week and spoken to Nuno Espirito Santo and managing director Fabio Paratici since the window closed and has accepted that he needs to work hard to return to the side.
It is added that Ndombele is hopeful he could play in Thursday’s Europa Conference League match with Ligue 1 side, Rennes.
