John Landgraf, CEO of the FX channel, has announced that the platform plans to do a two-season series on the Rolling Stones.
Nick Hornby, author of 'High fidelity', will be in charge of writing the series, which will be produced by Left Bank.
Throughout the two seasons, FX will opt to cover the period from the band's founding to 1972.
Previously, the Rolling Stones have participated in documentaries such as 'Sympathy for The Devil', by Jean-Luc Godard, which was released in 1968 to show the studio recording process of the song 'Sympathy for the Devil'.
Two years earlier came 'Charlie Is My Darling', which premiered at the Mannheim Film Festival in October 1966 but didn't get to the cinemas due to disagreements between the Rolling Stones and music entrepreneur Allen Klein.
'The Continuing Adventures of The Rolling Stones' was another documentary that came to mark the band's quarter century, while a movie called 'The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus' was released in 1996.
'Alien' to move to TV
The Rolling Stones biographical series will not be FX's only major project as they are also planning to turn the 'Alien' saga into a TV show.
