'The curse continues!': Spanish media take shot at Bale as Spurs blow 3-0 lead

Spanish media wasted no time taking aim at Gareth Bale and the 'curse' that follows the Welshman following his role in Tottenham's three-goal collapse against West Ham.

Bale made his first appearance since re-joining Tottenham in a loan deal from Real Madrid this summer, coming off the bench for the last 20 minutes on Sunday with Jose Mourinho's side 3-0 up.

He missed a brilliant opportunity to seal the win and was left to reflect on an agonising finish with Manuel Lanzini netting a stoppage time to stunner for 3-3.

'We had to wait a month, of course, after Bale arrived injured and it seems the curse stays with him,' an editorial in Spanish paper Diario AS read.

'Tottenham were on track when Mourinho gave the fans the pleasure of Bale, who came on at 3-0. Incredible. West Ham's goals flew in one after another...'

Spurs fans were left to recall a Bale curse from his first spell after their spectacular collapse.

Bale failed to win any of his first 24 Premier League games for Tottenham in a bizarre quirk to his start in north London having arrived to great fanfare from Southampton.
