The stats shame De Gea: Man Utd goalkeeper only has 7 clean sheets this season

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea is experiencing a difficult period between the sticks at the moment.

The Spaniard has made a string of glaring errors in recent performances prompting cause for concern for United.

There are eight other goalkeepers who have registered more clean sheets than de Gea this season, including Cardiff's Neil Etheridge, who has one more on eight.

While Ederson and Alisson, who de Gea would expect to be challenging for the Golden Glove Award, both have double the number of clean sheets the United keeper has.

De Gea's struggles to keep the ball out of his net has coincided with United's substandard record at Old Trafford this season.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men have the worst home record out of the top six and have only claimed five more points than Everton and Wolves.

Old Trafford has been the stage that their No 1 has most often blundered on and it was in front on his own fans that de Gea made another error of judgement when he allowed Chelsea to equalise and steal a point on Sunday.

Even relegated Huddersfield, who have conceded the second highest number of goals this season (74) - only Fulham have let in more - have kept out the opposition on their own turf on more occasions than de Gea and United have.

Despite his recent from, Solskjaer and co have stressed the 28-year-old still has their backing ahead of their crucial final two matches.
