Liverpool are set to seal a deal for RB Salzburg star Takumi Minamino at the start of the January window.
The Japan international impressed for his side against Liverpool in both Champions League group games this season.
But the Reds have been laying the groundwork on a transfer for quite some time.
We asked the Official Liverpool Supporters Club of Japan for their thoughts on Minamino ahead of his switch to Anfield.
Thanks to Itatsu for answering our questions...
How does Minamino rank in Japan's national team? Is he the best player?
"Definitely one of the best.
"After the big era for Japan (Honda, Nagatomo, Kagawa, Hasebe) he is one of the leading players of current Japanese international team."
What will the reaction be like in Japan if Minamino does sign for Liverpool?
"It would be fanatical. Japanese media tend to focus [on] home country player. Media exposure of LFC in Japan must be jumped up. Especially, this is first time for Japanese player to join mega club in England after Kagawa.
"Most of media will pay maximum attention to him."
What do you think he could bring to Liverpool's team?
"He is a passionate player, so I think he can bring a new wind to existing players. Also, he has the hardworking nature that [Jurgen] Klopp loves. He can improve more under the manager."
What's his favoured position and where might he fit in alongside Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino?
"There are so many kind of opinions [on his best position], even in Japan.
"His first choice is the same as Firmino. He can chase for the ball, and also has technical skills. But of course, Bobby is world best player, so Minamino is not same level, but he can also move as a winger. That's why I think [he has] some ability to bring more tactics [options] to Liverpool.
"He recently played for Japan as a forward, it is more likely to play as substitute for front three. But he used to play as a midfielder in J-League, so he also has [the] ability to play alongside [Jordan] Henderson or Fabinho."
What are Minamino's strengths and best qualities? And what could Liverpool fans expect to see from him?
"He has both toughness and technique at the same time. [His] assist in the Asian Cup 2019 semi-finals (against Iran) is just one example.
"He concentrated on playing and provided a beautiful cross for his team mates and created a precious first goal for the Japan team. This kinds of play is what the Kop want to see, and Klopp also tends to love."
