Arsenal boss Unai Emery has tipped Liverpool to match Arsene Wenger’s Invincible team by going a whole Premier League season unbeaten.

Liverpool have won sixteen and drawn three at the halfway stage as they pull clear at the top of the Premier League ahead of this weekend’s clash between Jurgen Klopp’s side and Arsenal at Anfield.

Wenger’s Arsenal team in 2003-04 are the last side to manage a whole undefeated season but Emery believes Klopp’s Liverpool are showing the necessary credentials.

Emery said: ‘At the moment they are doing and they can do it. They are doing it at the moment.’

Emery also said that Liverpool are a perfect model for Arsenal to look up to as they set about recapturing their former glories.

Emery said: ‘We played three years ago in the Europa League final with Sevilla against Liverpool and we beat them.

‘But look at the process and it’s a very good example for us. The progression is clear: they were out of the Champions League and they are an example for us at Arsenal now. We need to be demanding of ourselves but we need time and patience is very important.’

Emery also said he hoped the FA would not ban him after he accidentally kicked a water bottle at Brighton supporters during the 1-1 draw on Boxing Day.

The FA are investigating but Emery, who sought out the fans to apologise, said: ‘I said yesterday my apologies. I kicked it in frustration and I said my apologies. It is one individual action.

'I kicked it without that intention of hitting anybody. I hope they will not ban but I respect the decision of the FA. It is one circumstance and action and it was not my intention.’
