Thiago Alcantara is spotted back in Liverpool training after two months out injured

Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara has returned to full training ahead of the Reds' clash against league leaders Arsenal after spending two months on the sidelines with a hip injury.

The Spain international last featured for Jurgen Klopp's side in February, taking part in the team's 3-0 defeat against Wolves.

After re-joining first-team training over the weekend, Thursday marked Thiago's involvement in an intensive runout.

Thiago's availability for selection ahead of this weekend's fixture could hand his manager a major boost after Liverpool's midfield failed to impress in dismal performances against Manchester City and Chelsea early in the week.

Klopp has been particularly unlucky with injuries to his midfielders of late, with Stefan Bajcetic and Naby Keita still out of contention.

Alongside Thiago, winger Luis Diaz also made his return to full training on Thursday.

The Colombian, who signed for Liverpool in January 2022, has been out since October due to a persistent knee injury.

Diaz was facing Saturday's upcoming opponents when he left the pitch during the 3-2 defeat for Liverpool at the Emirates six months ago.

Upon return from the World Cup in Qatar, Thiago started every match for the Merseyside club before being sidelined, and should he be deemed to have reached the fitness level required for Sunday, Klopp will likely hand him a place in the starting XI.

During the former Bayern Munich player's absence, Liverpool have won just four of their last 10 matches.

The side, who have been inconsistent throughout this season, have an even more difficult job to do against table-topping Arsenal.

Mikel Arteta's team continued their blistering league form with a 4-1 win last Saturday against Leeds.

The Reds currently sit 8th in the Premier League table, three points off the European places and Brighton in 6th, with Aston Villa jumping ahead of them to sit 7th following classy performances at Chelsea and Leicester.
