Tim Howard has revealed Paul Scholes' bizarre habit of smashing shots into goalkeepers' faces in Manchester United training.

The pair were team-mates at Old Trafford from 2003 to 2006, and the American goalkeeper opened up on the midfielder's moodiness, adding he scowled at team-mates and made tough tackles on them too.
But Howard, now 43, also stated on Ben Foster's YouTube podcast 'The Fozcast' that the talented playmaker is one of the most under-rated players in Premier League history.

He said: 'Scholesy never wanted the spotlight. He didn't puff his chest out like players who want the spotlight but as much praise as he's got, he's probably got to go down as one of the most under-rated players in the Premier League.
'In the best Man United team, the treble-winning team, he was still one of the best technicians on the pitch. In any game, you could play Juventus or you could play Barcelona... it's frightening how good he was but he flies under the radar a little bit.
'You could never work him out, could you. He's kind of a diminutive character, doesn't really want a bit of craic and a bit of banter and yet he'll put a tackle in, he'll scowl at you, he'll smash the ball off your face if you're a goalkeeper, he won't even try to tuck it in to the corner.

'And he won't say sorry! You want to give him a bit and you want to have a laugh with him and he doesn't really do either and you're thinking: I give up!'
Scholes played 718 matches in all competitions for the Red Devils, scoring 155 goals, before finally retiring in May 2013.
The 47-year-old, who resigned as Oldham manager after 31 days in March 2019, is a part-owner of League Two side Salford City along with David Beckham, Gary Neville and Phil Neville, among others.
