The Times reports that Arsenal and Newcastle United have begun negotiations for the transfer of Guimaraes, a move that could see the midfielder swap St James' Park for the Emirates.
Reports earlier this summer suggested Arsenal were preparing a bid of up to £60 million for Guimaraes, and now there's an update on the 28-year-old's future.
According to The Times, Arsenal and Newcastle United have started talks, with Newcastle still valuing Guimaraes at around £75 million. If Arsenal decides to match this price, they may need to change their previous plan of offering a maximum of £60 million.
