According to Santi Aouna of Foot Mercato, Todd Boehly, the boss of Chelsea, has met with Neymar’s entourage in recent days to discuss the possibilities of the star player joining Chelsea. This news comes amid reports of PSG’s desire to part ways with Neymar, as his latest on-field behavior and inability to perform to his expected level have caused concern. Despite Neymar’s claims of attachment to PSG, he has been vocal about the possibility of leaving the club next summer.
Aouna reports that Manchester United has also been mentioned as a possible destination for Neymar, but Chelsea has been more proactive in pursuing the player. Boehly, a known fan of Neymar, reportedly discussed Chelsea’s project with the player’s entourage and explored options for his arrival, including a transfer or a mutual termination of his contract.
The ultimate goal for PSG is to unload a player who has caused more problems than he has solved, both on the sporting and financial fronts. Neymar’s high salary has strained the club’s finances and limited its ability to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations and make new signings. It remains uncertain if Neymar will end up at Chelsea next summer, but all parties involved are reportedly working towards that possibility.
