Who are Watford’s best FPL assets?
Newly promoted teams can often prove something of a gamble on Fantasy Premier League.
Every so often you will get a surprise side like Leeds United or Wolves when they were first promoted, who go on to exceed expectations and finish in the top half of the Premier League table in their very first campaign.
But most of the time you often see at least two of the new teams go straight back down to the Championship.
But which category do Watford fall into?
They are probably not the best side and may well struggle to stay up, but they may still have a few decent FPL assets this year. Here are 101’s top three.
Ismaila Sarr, midfielder (6.0m)
Watford do not really have a great striker in their side, and that may be one of their downfalls this season.
However, if anyone is going to be providing most of their goals in 2021/22, it will be Ismaila Sarr.
Sarr, a natural right-winger, would be the Hornets’ top scorer and top assister in their promotion-winning campaign – netting 13 and assisting 10 in 39 league outings.
He also has previous success in the Premier League, scoring five and assisting seven back in 2019/20 when Watford were relegated.
And if he can improve on that tally somewhat this time around, he could be a real bargain at 6.0m.
Kiko Femenia, defender (4.5m)
Whilst Watford’s attack is not the best, they should be able to hold their own defensively in the Premier League.
Watford would concede just 30 goals in the Championship last term, the lowest in the division.
As a result, Kiko Femenia, who can also chip in with the odd assist from full-back, could be a viable 4.5m option if you want to rotate him in and out with another 4.5m option.
Daniel Bachmann, goalkeeper (4.5m)
The final Watford player you may wish to consider is Daniel Bachmann.
Bachmann was only handed the reins as the Hornets’ first-choice keeper midway through the campaign. But in the 23 games in which he featured, the 27-year-old let in just 11 goals.
So, with Watford expected to have a decent defensive record in 2021/22, Bachmann should be a very decent budget goalkeeping option for you to either start every game or rotate with another 4.5m option like Brighton’s Robert Sanchez.
