Tottenham are the ‘most likely destination’ for Barcelona’s Moriba

Moriba’s Barcelona stint

Moriba is just one of countless top talents to have made their way through Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy over the years.

The midfielder is still primarily plying his trade with Barca B, but 2020/21 saw Ronald Koeman hand the youngster some first-team action.

The 18-year-old made his senior debut towards the end of January, featuring for 74 minutes in the Copa del Rey vs UE Cornellà.

And Moriba has since been handed 17 more appearances for the Blaugrana, 14 of these coming in La Liga, two more in the Copa del Rey – including a short outing in the final which Barca won – and one in the Champions League vs PSG.

Tottenham eye Moriba

However, despite being an incredibly promising talent, Moriba’s future at the Camp Nou appears to be up in the air.

This comes with the youngster in the final 12 months of his current deal and his wage demands preventing a new deal being agreed.

Koeman recently spoke about Moriba’s situation and labelled it horrible:

“Ilaix’s situation is horrible. My advice is that money cannot be the most important thing for an 18-year-old. It’s about playing games. But the player and his camp think differently. I am disappointed.”

With Moriba clearly a top talent, it is not at all surprising to see some top clubs linked with him amid his contract standoff.

All of Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea have been linked this summer.

However, it now appears as though Tottenham could be moving into the drivers seat for Moriba.
