Tottenham legend Justin Edinburgh remains seriously ill in hospital — with Leyton Orient providing an update to his condition on Saturday.

Edinburgh was taken to hospital on Monday morning after falling ill unexpectedly, just weeks after guiding the east London club back into the Football League.

The 49-year-old had travelled to Madrid last weekend to watch his former side Tottenham in their Champions League final defeat by Liverpool.

On Saturday, his club provided an update. They said: 'Leyton Orient continues to liaise with the Edinburgh family closely and Justin remains as per the update posted on June 4, 2019.

'We would like to reiterate our request that the privacy of Justin's family is respected at this difficult time.

'Once again we'd like to thank the footballing world for their continued support and well-wishes'.

Following the news on Monday, Tottenham wished 49-year-old Edinburgh a speedy recovery.

Tottenham wrote on Twitter: 'Everybody at the club sends their best wishes to our former defender Justin Edinburgh after he was taken ill earlier this morning.'

Edinburgh played for Spurs between 1990 and 2000, featuring over 200 times.
