Son stars against Burnley
Son Heung-min fired in a terrific hat-trick for Tottenham as he led from the front in the 5-2 win at Turf Moor on Saturday. Following up his first goal of the season and his first as captain, Son completed a fine day with a left-footed strike at the end of a free-flowing move at the end of the game.
football.london Tottenham correspondent Alasdair Gold described his performance, writing: "His first goal of the season was a beauty as he exchanged passes with Solomon before chipping past the keeper and covering defenders.
"Then he clinically fired home his second before calmly slotted in his hat-trick goal from Porro's pass. He fills the central role in a different but very effective role and the Postecoglou system works perfectly for his game."
Postecoglou praise
Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou was full of praise for his side at full-time in Lancashire as he ensured that Spurs bounced back from the disappointment of losing at Fulham on Tuesday.
"It was good today for sure," he told reporters. "Obviously going a goal down again you get tested and particularly after midweek you're looking for what kind of reaction the lads have. I thought they were outstanding in just staying really calm and clear headed and playing our football and we grew into the game."
It leaves his team well placed after four games, taking 10 points and going unbeaten in the league with 11 goals being scored.
Loan saves Tottenham millions
Although Brennan Johnson arrived at Tottenham for £47.5million on deadline day there is still some concern over the general shape of the attack being built under Postecoglou. The first choice players are certainly strong enough to rival most in the league but in depth there are holes.
It is for this reason that the choice to loan youngster Dane Scarlett to Ipswich for a season was a brave one. Up until the final week of the window he was in the mix for some first team minutes due to lack of numbers but now there is a chance that he returns next year ready for action.
"Dane was really good with us during pre-season and there was a lot of interest in him right from the beginning as soon as I got here," Postecoglou said of the academy ace on Friday.
"The reason I kept him with us for so long is because I was really encouraged with the way he was training and the way he was developing, but there always comes a point with young players where you need to decide."
