Tottenham next manager odds as Julian Nagelsmann makes Chelsea decision

Tottenham news: Julian Nagelsmann was one of the first names linked with Spurs following the dismissal of Antonio Conte and that move could now be back on

That shortlist now looks to have three names on it though, rather than four, following a major update from Romano in regard to Nagelsmann. On Twitter he wrote: "Julian Nagelsmann has now withdrawn from the race to become the new Chelsea head coach — it looks like it’s his final decision. Nagelsmann has been in regular contact with Chelsea — but crucial points were never fully agreed."

That major managerial update could have significant repercussions throughout London. Firstly at Chelsea as Pochettino now looks to be the favourite for the job with talks to continue this week. Meanwhile, across the capital at Tottenham, chairman Daniel Levy could have a free run at Nagelsmann with Chelsea no longer in the frame.

This possibility has been reflected in the latest SkyBet odds where Nagelsmann has shortened drastically. Kompany is still the favourite at 7/2 but the 35-year-old is close behind with odds of 4/1, while Brendan Rodgers is at 5/1. Graham Potter and Arne Slot then make up the top five at 6/1 and 8/1, respectively. Luis Enrique is also down at 8/1 after his chances of becoming Chelsea's next manager dwindled earlier this week.

In terms of major European clubs without a head coach, Tottenham are one of few, which would certainly indicate they have a great chance of hiring Nagelsmann. However, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti and Paris Saint-Germain boss Christoph Galtier could both be heading for the exit door at the end of the season and both Champions League titans could move for Nagelsmann in the summer.
