Tottenham have tied down rising starlet Jamie Bowden on a new deal until 2023.

Highly-rated midfielder Bowden, 18, has committed his long-term future to Spurs by signing a new three-and-a-half year deal.

Former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino was a big fan of Ireland under-19 midfielder Bowden, a deep-lying anchorman with an expansive passing range who has been likened to Michael Carrick.

Pochettino handed Bowden, who represented England at under-15 and 16 level before switching to Ireland, his senior debut in a pre-season friendly against Girona in August 2018.

Pochettino also included Bowden in his travelling squad for a number of games, including Spurs's rollercoaster Champions League quarter-final at Manchester City last season before taking him on the club's pre-season tour of Asia.

Bowden will now continue his development under new manager Jose Mourinho having extended his stay with the club he first joined aged six.
