As per usual in the north London derby, there were many contentious decisions to assess.
There were two penalties and a sending off at Wembley on Saturday in Tottenham's 1-1 draw with Arsenal.
Sportsmail's expert referee Chris Foy has the lowdown on what decisions the referees did and did not get right.
Harry Kane penalty
CHRIS FOY’S VERDICT: Spurs were fortunate to get their equaliser - not because Harry Kane wasn’t fouled but because he was offside in the build-up.
When the free-kick was floated into the box Kane was offside and assistant Gary Beswick’s flag should have gone up when the England striker became involved in active play.
Having said that, it was an excellent piece of detection from Anthony Taylor to spot the push by Mustafi on Kane.
But the bottom line is that it should not have been a penalty.
Arsenal penalty
CHRIS FOY’S VERDICT: As for the Arsenal penalty, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang certainly wasn’t tripped by Davinson Sanchez and there was minimal contact.
I don’t think that’s enough for him to go to ground, so no penalty in my book.
That said, the penalty should have been retaken because Jan Vertonghen was encroaching when Aubameyang took his penalty and it was the Belgian who produced the block when the rebound was fired in. VAR would have sorted that out - and would, of course, have seen the Spurs equaliser ruled out.
Lucas Torreira red card
CHRIS FOY’S VERDICT: The sending-off of Lucas Torreira for the challenge on Danny Rose was an excellent spot by Anthony Taylor.
We talk about excessive force. Does a challenge endanger another player’s safety and yes it does? This ticks all the excessive force boxes. It’s a red card all day long.
Kane offside goal
CHRIS FOY’S VERDICT: It’s a really good decision by assistant referee Adam Nunn.
Harry Kane has strayed marginally offside as he makes his run to meet Christian Eriksen’s free-kick, Adam has spotted it and rightly puts his flag up.
P.s. should Aubameyang have been allowed to retake his late penalty?
When Aubameyang missed his penalty in injury time, the ball came back into play and Jan Vertonghen made an excellent block to clear the ball off the line.
Replays showed, however, that Vertonghen was encroaching in the penalty area and the penalty should have been retaken.
Alexandre Lacazette did not appear to be happy about the decision after the game as he liked a post on Instagram showing the encroachment.
