Crystal Palace winger Andros Townsend is facing heartache tonight, the winger emerging as a key doubt for the grand opening of boyhood club Tottenham's new stadium.
The 27-year-old, who is a regular for Roy Hodgson's side, is understood to be fit for selection for the first senior game at the new White Hart Lane this evening.
But Townsend's place in the starting XI is in significant doubt due to what is believed to be a hand injury sustained against Huddersfield on Saturday.
Townsend was replaced by Cheikhou Kouyate in the 80th minute at Selhurst Park on Saturday.
Hodgson will be desperate for his forward to be fit, but the Palace boss could push Jeffrey Schlupp into a more advanced role if Townsend is not available from the start.
Townsend is looking forward to tonight's game more than most having grown up with a huge affinity for the north London club.
Townsend grew up a Tottenham supporter before coming through the Spurs academy to make 93 first team appearances.
But the problem sustained on Saturday could cruelly prevent the forward from playing in the poignant first competitive game at Tottenham's new £1billion stadium.
