Troy Deeney has left Watford after 11 years and will join Championship club Birmingham City on a free transfer.
The final details of the 33-year-old's severance deal from Watford are being finalised and a medical is being scheduled with his new club.
Deeney, who saw a proposed move to West Brom fall through in January, has been at Vicarage Road since 2010 and has scored 140 goals in 419 appearances, but the club announced on Thursday that they were working to find an amicable solution to allow him to play regular football elsewhere.
The forward confirmed his departure from the Hornets in an emotional video, thanking the club's fans for their support during his 11-year spell.
Speaking in the video, Deeney said: 'It's weird being asked to express my feelings on my life at Watford Football Club and the emotions I feel about leaving a club so important to me.
'I feel sadness and loss, almost like a close family member has just died. I feel excitement about my new journey and the rest of my life.
'Most of all I feel tremendous pride for what I've achieved and the friendships and connections I've made. Watford literally has changed my life.
'The Watford family redeemed me and helped get me back on track when I was at my lowest ebb.
'Last but certainly not least to the fans - you have been amazing and I can honestly say from the bottom of my heart I love you all.
'You've taken me into your hearts and I can never repay you. This club is now in my heart forever and I hope you know I left everything on the pitch.'
Deeney's move to Birmingham is expected to be confirmed imminently.
Speaking after Birmingham's 1-1 draw at Barnsley at the weekend, manager Lee Bowyer opened up on their interest in Deeney, saying: 'All I would say is Troy (Deeney) is a good player, he is a good striker, scores goals, works hard for his team.
'I know him, I have met him a couple of times, he seems like a winner.
'Will there be others that are trying to sign Troy Deeney? Probably, if they are not they are silly. He's a good striker.'
Watford have also allowed Deeney's former strike partner Andre Gray to join QPR on a season loan.
