Tuchel reveals the personal reason behind Ben White's latest England omission

Thomas Tuchel has revealed the personal reason why Arsenal defender Ben White has been left out of the latest England squad.

White, 27, has been absent from the Gunners' matchday squads for much of the season after sustaining a knee injury in November.

England will return to action next month following the end of the Premier League season as they take on Andorra in a World Cup qualifier on June 7, before playing Senegal in a friendly three days later.

They will do so without White, who left England's 2022 World Cup campaign in Qatar in controversial circumstances following a reported bust-up with ex-manager GAreth Southgate's former assistant Steve Holland.

Southgate later revealed that the defender had made it clear he did not want to be considered for selection under his management.

However, new England boss Tuchel, who took over in January, has held discussions with White about a potential return and confirmed that the Arsenal star is now willing to be part of the national team setup once again.

But the German coach shared that the latest set of fixtures would come too soon for White due to personal reasons.

Speaking about his choice to leave White out, Tuchel said: 'He made very strong progress. We had a talk and we decided that at the moment this is not the moment - because he will become a father very soon.

'The baby is due during the camp. We wish him all the best for that.'

Away from football, he married his wife, Milly Adams, in the summer of 2023 and the couple have enjoyed multiple holidays during international breaks.

The pair are believed to have started their relationship at some point in 2022, but shared their first hint on social media in February, when both White and Adams posted the same picture of themselves holding hands.

In April last year, the 27-year-old first shared a picture of the pair together, with a cameo appearance from one of her dogs.

With the relationship appearing to move at a clip, it was only just over a month later that White popped the question, getting down on one knee in June 2024 during a holiday at a mystery location, complete with a villa-side infinity pool and jaw-dropping vistas.

'I got you for life,' Adams shared alongside pictures of the idyllic setting, a phrase she later had embroidered onto her wedding veil.

She also added a butterfly emoji, which has become synonymous with the pair's relationship in subsequent posts.

Both Adams and White have been open about their relationship, and the strength of their feeling for each other, on social media.

Milly has frequently showed her support for White both in her pictures and their captions on social media.

One year on from his proposal, White and Adams held their legal ceremony at Marylebone Old Town Hall.
