According to Football.London, Osimhen has long been linked with a move to the Premier League, but a transfer has never materialized.
Tottenham Hotspur appear to be leading the race to sign Osimhen from Galatasaray. The 27-year-old forward has suddenly emerged as a potential target for Spurs, with Roberto De Zerbi keen to strengthen his attack.
According to Turkish journalist Ekrem Konur, Spurs are interested in acquiring Osimhen, who is under contract at Rams Park until June 2029. Reports suggest that Spurs recently made an initial offer of £50 million to £55 million to the Turkish giants.
Sources claim that Galatasaray values the Nigeria international at around £65 million. Konur believes that Chelsea, Manchester United, and Atletico Madrid are also monitoring developments regarding this potential deal.
At the end of last month, Roberto De Zerbi had already made it clear he wanted to strengthen his attack, despite the club spending nearly £250 million on three defenders, two midfielders, and a goalkeeper this summer. After a pre-season friendly victory against Auckland, the Italian coach said: "The target now is to strengthen the attacking positions.
"We want to get our first targets, our first-tier players first, because we already have some important players, but I think to start a new project, we certainly need two more important players."
A few days later, De Zerbi hinted at a potential "big" signing and described himself as a "shark" in the transfer market. He said: "The transfer market is certainly not over yet.
"We have already completed 60% of our plan in the transfer market. Now we have another big signing. Is it close? I hope so, but it's certainly not over. We have to increase our goal tally through our playing style, through the quality of our play, through our midfielders and forwards, but we have to bring in players who can score goals.
"My thoughts in the transfer market are 24 hours a day, thinking about who is the best player to bring in. You see the news, he's leaving, he's going. I like working in the transfer market.
"This isn't pressure, it's one of the most beautiful parts of my job. As long as I want a player, I'll be like a shark. There's no reason to say no."
When later asked to clarify what he meant by a "big" signing, De Zerbi appeared to downplay the possibility of bringing in another big-name player. Speaking to reporters before Tottenham Hotspur's pre-season friendly victory against Chelsea, he said: "The Italian word 'bomba' is not the same as in English.
"You can write whatever you want. I mean we have to compete in the transfer market. We have some other players, and we need to complete the squad."
When asked to define "bomba" in his native language, De Zerbi replied: "[Sandro] Tonali, [Matheus] Fernandes, [Marco] Senesi, [Andy] Robertson are all 'bomba.' For us, they are all top players."
When asked how many more players Spurs would sign before the transfer window closes in September, the 47-year-old coach said: "I think two, maybe three, we'll see."
Currently, football.london is unclear whether Spurs are genuinely interested in signing Osimhen. The Nigerian striker was once close to joining Chelsea in the summer of 2024, but the deal fell through at the last minute, and he subsequently joined Galatasaray on an initial loan.
It is understood that Chelsea at the time hoped to sign Osimhen on a season-long loan with an obligation to buy. Despite Chelsea's best efforts, they were unable to reach an agreement with Napoli before the deadline.
The following summer, the Turkish champions permanently signed the Nigerian forward for €75 million (£64 million), making him the most expensive signing in Turkish football history.
