UEFA open disciplinary proceedings against Lazio & Celtic after their UEL game

UEFA have opened disciplinary proceedings against both Lazio and Celtic after their Europa League game in Glasgow.

The match, which ended 2-1 for the Scottish side, was played at Celtic Park on October 24.

Lazio have been charged with illicit chants and it’s assumed these are yet again racist abuse, a situation the club has dealt with repeatedly due to a persistent faction of their fanbase.

Celtic are also charged with both illicit chants and an illicit banner, believed to be an image of Fascist leader Benito Mussolini’s body hanging from a lamppost.

It was a reference to Lazio’s far right fan contingent, with the message: ‘Follow your leader.’

The cases will be examined on November 21.
