UEFA have handed Galatasaray a £45,00 fine and given their fans a suspended ban from a European away game after the scenes that marred their win at Manchester United.
On what proved a famous Champions League night for the Turkish side, they prevailed 3-2 at Old Trafford. But amid raucous celebrations, television footage later emerged of away fans celebrating indiscreetly in the home end.
A subsequent investigation from the club found that around 2,000 tickets had been used by away supporters. The club was forced to make an embarrassing apology for what transpired, with chief operating officer Collette Roche revealing that ticket 'bots' were behind the error.
Others were deemed to have acquired seats from touts or resale websites, as well as buying hospitality packages. The club have since altered their policy for cup matches, with fans only eligible if they have a previous purchase history with the club.
UEFA then opened their own enquiry, and on Friday the authority confirmed that Galatasaray had been found guilty of four separate charges. And as well as the cumulative total of fines, their supporters have been handed a suspended one-game ban from away fixtures in Europe.
They were fined £26,000 for the throwing of objects as well as the ban, which is suspended for two years. The Super Lig giants were also dealt a £3,000 fine for the lighting of fireworks and £8,700 for general crowd disturbances - plus £7,000 for acts of damage in the away end.
The saga exacerbates what was already a notorious history between the two sides. United's trip to Galatasaray back in 1993, where they were greeted by 'welcome to hell' banners, has since gone down in folklore.
And tensions are sure to run high when the Red Devils travel for the reverse fixture on November 29. Furthermore, Erik ten Hag's team are likely to need nothing less than three points, having lost in Bayern Munich before the home defeat.
But the breach of security on October 3 is not the only gripe United supporters have aired about Old Trafford this season. There have also been complaints over leaks in the roof, with footage posted of fans getting wet in their seats.
