UEL round-of-32 draw: When is it, how to watch & who can EPL sides face?

  /  autty

The Europa League group stage proved to be a walk in the park for Arsenal, Chelsea and they will be joined by Celtic too as the trio of British sides sealed a spot in the round-of-32.

But now the competition starts to get serious as teams falling at the first hurdle in the Champions League are parachuted in to help make up the numbers for the knockout stages.

But who could Arsenal, Chelsea or Celtic face when the draw is made on Monday? Sportsmail takes a look at the sides that could stand in the trio's way in the next round as well as providing all you need to know ahead of the midday draw.

When is it?

The Europa League round-of-32 draw will take place on Monday 17th December at UEFA's HQ in Nyon, Switzerland.

What time is it?

The draw will commence at midday (GMT) following proceedings regarding the Champions League last-16.

How can I watch it?

BT Sport 2 and Eurosport 1 will show the draw live from midday while UEFA will also stream the proceedings on their website.

The Europa League round-of-32 lineup

POT 1: Leverkusen, Salzburg, Zenit, Dinamo Zagreb, Arsenal, Betis, Villarreal, Eintracht, Genk, Sevilla, Dinamo Kiev, Chelsea, Napoli, Valencia, Inter, Benfica

POT 2: Zurich, Celtic, Slavia Prague, Fenerbahce, Sporting, Olympiacos, Rapid Vienna, Lazio, Malmö, Krasnodar, Stade Rennais, BATE, Plzen, Brugge, Shakhtar, Galatasaray

How does the draw work?

The 12 group winners and runners up from the Europa League are joined by the eight third placed teams exiting from the Champions League.

Seeded teams will consist of the Europa League group winners along with the four best third placed teams dropping in from the Champions League.

These teams are then drawn against the unseeded sides to set up 16 head-to-head matches, with the seeded teams ensured to host the second leg.

The main restrictions heading into the draw are that teams can face a team from their Europa League group nor one from their same association. For example, Chelsea will avoid Arsenal in the draw as well as BATE who were runners-up behind them in Group L.

The first legs will take place on February 14 while the return fixture follows a week later on February 21.
