Utd fans make disappointment clear as Haaland scores hat-trick on Dortmund debut

Manchester United fans have made their disappointment clear after Erling Haaland scored a brilliant hat-trick on his debut for Borussia Dortmund.

Despite the great form of Marcus Rashford this season United have struggled in front of goal and have considered adding to their attacking reinforcements in January.

Thanks to his sensational form for Red Bull Salzburg, and his connections with fellow countryman Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Haaland emerged as an obvious candidate.

But United pulled out of a deal for the 19-year-old, who has bagged 28 goals in 22 games for Salzburg this season

MEN Sport understands that the club refused to agree to a buyout clause and percentage of future sales as part of the deal, as Haaland's representatives, including Mino Raiola, wanted to secure a share from future sales of the Norwegian striker as part of the transfer.

The Norwegian instead completed a €20million switch to German giants Dortmund and he wasted no time in making an impact in the Bundesliga.

Dortmund were 3-1 down against Augsburg in their first game after the winter break and within three minutes of his 56th minute introduction Haaland had halved the deficit as he latched onto a Jadon Sancho pass and fired into the far corner.

Sancho would go on to equalise but it would be Haaland's night as he would go on to put Dortmund into the lead and then out of sight as he scored twice to complete a 20-minute hat-trick.

Understandably, United fans are gutted that Haaland has hit the ground running in such a spectacular way and wish he was doing it at Old Trafford instead.
