Valverde has to set a new defence in the Champions League game against Dortmund because of injuries and suspension.
The injuries of Semedo, Alba and Lenglet and the suspension of Sergi Roberto have forced Valverde to put the eighth different defence in the La Liga match versus Leganes, which was formed by Wague, Piqué, Umtiti and Firpo.
And now, against Dortmund in the Champions League, the problem is the same again, he has to put the ninth different one in just 18 official matches with the injuries of Semedo and Alba, in addition to the suspended Piqué.
Sergi Roberto will return to the right-back, which will be the first big news. Junior will make his debut in the Champions League. Lenglet and Umtiti are likely to partner as the central defenders in the match.
Among the eight different defences he has used so far, Valverde has had one in particular which was formed by Semedo, Piqué, Lenglet and Alba. He has used it eight times.
