According to ESPN, Ernesto Valverde has been fine-tuning his tactical nous for Barcelona’s encounter against Liverpool in the Champions League by watching their game against Manchester City.
The two teams will cancel each other out in the first leg at the Camp Nou on Wednesday night and reports are rife they may employ the long ball tactics to undermine the Reds.
Reports from ESPN FC confirmed Valverde has been watching Liverpool's games this season with specific attention on their loss against City, which ended 2-1 in favour of Pep Guardiola's side.
“Liverpool apply very high pressure in the form of six or even seven players,” said a Barcelona source.
“They want to make you uncomfortable and, if possible, they want to rob the ball back.
“Our intention is to play as we always do. We want to get the ball at the back and play through their press. But we haven't ruled out going long if we have to.”
