Virgil van Dijk has wished Harry Maguire good luck in his new venture at Manchester United, after the England international succeeded him as the most expensive defender in football history.
United's £85million deal for Maguire eclipsed the £75m Liverpool paid Southampton for Van Dijk's services in January 2018.
Van Dijk admits pressure comes with such lofty price-tags, but acknowledges that it is part and parcel of football and transfer increases are always set to happen.
'Good luck to him. I can't say anything about my transfer fee because there was always going to be a time when it was going to change. That's the market,' the Dutchman said this week, according to reports.
'He [Maguire] doesn't have any influence on that. The price comes with pressure but it doesn't change too much because you always have pressure at big clubs like Manchester United.
