Salomon Rondon has mutually agreed to terminate his contract with Everton.

The Venezuela international, who has scored a credible seven goals in 12 games for his country this year, has struggled to get a run of games under manager Frank Lampard and fell further down the pecking order following the arrival of Neal Maupay from Brighton in the summer.

Everton are working under financial restrictions and need to offload players ahead of any potential new arrivals in January.

Lampard has underlined a desire to strengthen his attack with Dominic Calvert-Lewin dogged by injuries over the past year.

Rondon, 33, was signed for Everton by Rafa Benitez but arrived short of fitness and match sharpness and failed to make the desired impact.

He put in extra work last summer to ensure he was able to compete for a place but was a peripheral figure, mainly used from the bench.

Although well thought of and a model professional, Rondon has agreed to leave for the sake of greater first team opportunities elsewhere and has a number of clubs already showing interest.

Lampard hopes the striker's departure will free up wages for a potential loan signing in January though the reality is Everton will likely need to shift more bodies out over the next few weeks to accommodate the quality of signing the manager hopes to attract.
