Victor Lindelof: A similar case to Sergio Aguero?

Victor Lindelof had to be taken off during Manchester United's match away at Norwich City on Saturday with severe chest pain.

The Swedish defender dropped to his knees unchallenged and holding his chest during United's 1-0 win at Carrow Road.

Medics ran onto the pitch to attend to Lindelof, with the player complaining of difficulty breathing and a racing heart rate.

He was replaced by Eric Bailly and taken to the dressing room to undergo tests, but these images bring back bad memories of similar incidents in recent times.

Aguero and Eriksen

Barcelona's Sergio Aguero was recently diagnosed with cardiac arrhythmia, which is an irregular heartbeat, after suffering chest pains whilst playing against Alaves, which could see him be forced to retire from football.

Football fans around the world also watched on in horror as Christian Eriksen collapsed during Denmark's group-stage match against Finland at the 2020 European Championship last summer.

Eriksen was resuscitated after quick work from teammates and medics on the pitch and later recovered in hospital.

United goalkeeper David de Gea spoke about these two incidents after what happened to Lindelof on Saturday.

"We've seen some players who are feeling unwell," said De Gea.

"We've already seen Eriksen, Aguero, so it's difficult to see your player acting like this.

"It was better to change. I hope he's completely fine. The game, the football doesn't matter. It's life, to be safe."

United interim boss also Ralf Rangnick spoke about what happened after the match.

"Victor had problems to breathe and his heart rate was higher than normal," he said.

"He was a little shocked.

"He can't remember how it happened but he had a collision with another player. After the game we checked him.

"It seems everything is OK but we will have to see tomorrow. Hopefully he will be fit for Tuesday against Brentford."
