Aston Villa have reportedly won the race to sign Youri Tielemans as a free agent after the end of his contract at Leicester City.
The Belgian talisman was a key cog with the Foxes, but the 26-year-old's time with the club ceased at the same time as they were relegated from the Premier League.
While there was reportedly stiff competition to sign Tielemans, Aston Villa have reportedly nabbed him ahead of other interested parties.
The Athletic report that the midfielder is undergoing a medical at Villa Park before signing a four-year contract, which will keep him playing in England's top flight.
Mail Sport previously reported on the links between Aston Villa and Tielemans, with manager Unai Emery wanting a quick decision on the move as he looked to spend the summer rebuilding his squad ahead of Europa Conference League football in 2023-24.
Arsenal and Liverpool were both also thought to be potential suitors for the 26-year-old, but it now seems that they will be beaten to the punch by Emery's Villains.
Tielemans joined Leicester from Monaco in January 2019, initially on loan, before making a permanent switch that summer following a £32m move.
The highlight of his time at the King Power Stadium was scoring the winner in Leicester's FA Cup final win over Chelsea in 2021, one of 195 appearances that the Belgian made for the Foxes.
After confirming his exit from Leicester, Tielemans wrote on Instagram: 'I’m bidding farewell to this incredible club. I am forever grateful for your support.’
