Theo Walcott opened the scoring for Everton at home to Tottenham on Sunday and dedicated his goal to his late grandfather, who died recently at the age of 92.

Walcott found the net in the 21st minute at Goodison Park as he steered the ball through the legs of Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.

After scoring, Walcott pointed to the sky in memory of his grandfather Joe.

Joe Walcott was born in Jamaica and moved to England as a teenager, where he joined the RAF.

He spent more than three decades in the air force prior to joining the civil service and also received much praise for his community work.

Joe spent 18 years as a town and district councillor, which included terms as mayor of Carterton and chairman of West Oxfordshire District Council.

Joe Walcott, who passed away last month, received an MBE in 2006 for his services to the community.

He and his wife had five children and ten grandchildren.
