Wan-Bissaka, Winks, Mahrez and Ake… how unexpected names top the stats

With four rounds of Premier League action already in the books and the international break taking over for a fortnight, it is worth taking a look at the statistics so far.

There are a handful of surprisingly leaders in a number of categories who have made a strong start to the campaign.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who joined Manchester United from Crystal Palace for £45million this summer, has hit the ground running.

The English youngster leads the way when it comes to tackles completed, which tells you something about his defensive capabilities, but also probably how United have been playing.

He's made 26 tackles in total, six more than Leicester right-back Ricardo Pereira in second place.

In another defensive measurement, Michael Keane tops the list in terms of aerial duels won.

The Everton centre-back has out-battled an opponent 23 times to win headers with Willy Boly of Wolves only one behind.

Boly is also ninth in the tackles category so the 28-year-old has made a fine start to his second season at Molineux.

Nathan Ake has made more interceptions than any other defender (14), one more than Newcastle standout Fabian Schar.

In the attacking end of the pitch, Riyad Mahrez has made the most of his limited game time for Manchester City.

The Algerian winger may have only started half of the matches so far but he's created 10 chances, the same number as Sadio Mane and both wingers lead the way among forwards.

Mo Salah and Bournemouth's Callum Wilson are locked together in second place on nine.

In midfield, Kevin de Bruyne has created 16, two more than Manuel Lanzini and five more than Paul Pogba in third.

Tottenham may have made a stuttering start to the season but Harry Winks has looked in superb form and has been pulling the strings for Mauricio Pochettino's side.

He's made 287 successful passes, that's 36 more than his closest contender Pogba. Somewhat surprisingly Moritz Leitner at Norwich is then third.

Frank Lampard's attacking brand of football may have had a mixed bag of results so far but it seems to be suiting Mateo Kovacic.

The Croatian midfielder has completed more dribbles than anyone in the league (13) other than Lanzini.

Over the course of the season the statistics leaderboards will of course change shape but for now there are a few surprise names standing out.
