Watford appoint Edward Still as Gracia's successor

Watford have appointed Edward Still as their new head coach following Javi Gracia's exit earlier this month.

The 35-year-old, who is the older brother of former Southampton boss Will Still, has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract at Vicarage Road.

This comes after Gracia handed in his resignation after only three months in charge during his second spell, with Still taking charge of a Watford side who are just three points off the play-off places in 11th.

Still was most recently assistant coach at Anderlecht, also briefly taking on the interim head coach role, while he also has experience in Belgium with Charleroi, KAS Eupen and KV Kortrijk.

"I'm so thrilled and proud to be here. This is a club which has a big place in English football and a fantastic history," said Still.

"All of the focus will be on winning games as quickly as possible and getting the best out of the players.

"Fans can expect our team to be aggressive, really compact defensively and attack with pace."

Still is the Hornets' third head coach of the season after Gracia and Paulo Pezzolano, with the latter lasting just 10 games at the start of the campaign.

Remarkably, it is the third time since the 2021-2022 season that Watford have had three head coaches in the same season.

Still is set to take charge of his first game against Preston North End on Saturday, with Watford searching for their first league win since New Year's Day.
