Watford vs Tottenham preview: Mou's side aim for away win to rebuild confidence

  /  ClaunicornX

Watford will look to keep up their fine run of form under Nigel Pearson when they host an inconsistent Tottenham Hotspur this weekend.

The Hornets ran out 3-0 winners at Bournemouth last time before their midweek FA Cup replay against Tranmere Rovers was postponed.

Meanwhile, Spurs did play in midweek, beating Middlesbrough 2-1 and building a little bit of confidence before a difficult trip to Vicarage Road.

Probable Lineups

Team news

Watford: Watford have a number of absentees. Kiko Femenia (hamstring), Sebastian Prodl (shin), Daryl Janmaat (knee), Danny Welbeck (hamstring) and Tom Cleverley (foot) are all likely to miss out.

Tottenham: New Tottenham signing Gedson Fernandes will be involved. The Benfica midfielder has joined on an 18-month loan this week and could be on the bench while Christian Eriksen will start.

Ben Davies (ankle), Hugo Lloris (elbow), Harry Kane (hamstring) and Moussa Sissoko (knee) all remained sidelined, while Tanguy Ndombele is still a doubt with a hip problem. Japhet Tanganga will be pushing for a third straight start but Mourinho may prefer Serge Aurier at right-back.

Prediction

With just one win in their last five league games, Spurs know they cannot afford to lose more ground on Chelsea in the race for the top four. That said, Vicarage Road is a tricky place to go to right now, and it’s hard to see Spurs leaving with anything more than a point.
