Liverpool have become the first team pictured returning to group training after Premier League clubs gave Project Restart a boost on Monday.

Following a meeting of all 20 clubs, it was decided that players would be allowed to return to phase one of training from today as long a number of strict protocols are adhered to.

And Jurgen Klopp's men got straight back to business on Tuesday morning, with Jordan Henderson seen arriving at the club's Melwood base.

Players are getting back to action in groups of five but with no contact and social distancing rules in place in phase one of the return to training.

Phase two of training would allow contact between players but Premier League clubs are yet to vote on when the next step will be taken. Phase three would be a return to competitive games, which officials hope can happen in the second half of June.

Players at a number of clubs have been training individually at their respective club bases over the last month, with Arsenal stars pictured on a pitch each on April 27.

However, after all but one side completed their first round of coronavirus testing on players, it was agreed that the majority of stars could get back to work.

According to The Athletic, Newcastle, Southampton, Sheffield United, Bournemouth, Leicester, West Ham, Burnley and Crystal Palace all intend to train on Tuesday.

Manchester United, Arsenal and Everton are among the clubs who will return to action in groups on Wednesday.
