Former Manchester United and England defender Wes Brown has been pictured with supporters in Chile - just a day after it was reported he had been declared bankrupt.
HMRC filed a bankruptcy petition against Brown, who reportedly earned £50,000-a-week during his playing days at Old Trafford, on February 27.
The petition was rubber-stamped at the High Court on April 12 and listed on The Gazette, the official public record.
Defender Brown, 43, was in United's first team for 15 years having come through the Old Trafford club's academy ranks.
He made 362 appearances for the club, winning five Premier League titles, two FA Cups, two League Cups and two Champions Leagues during an illustrious career - and was even part of United's treble-winning team in 1998-99.
Brown also works as an ambassador for the club and on Thursday he was pictured posing with fans at an event in Chile, alongside ex-United forward Diego Forlan.
And United fans in the South American nation were clearly delighted to see the club's former stars as they shared several photos on Instagram.
One delighted supporter said: 'Thanks for the visit @WesBrown_24 and @DiegoForlancarazo it’s always a pleasure to meet people that make you so happy in a part of your life. Glory, Glory, Man United. Glory, Glory, Man United. Glory, Glory, Man United. As the reds go marching on on on.'
Another added: 'Thanks Forlan and Brown. It will be an unforgettable day alongside the former Red Devils.'
A further fan shared a shot with Brown and Forlan and said: 'With two greats of Manchester United.'
Uruguayan striker Forlan spent two years at Old Trafford from 2002-04 alongisde Brown.
However, the former Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan striker struggled to show his full potential at the club, scoring just 17 goals in 98 appearances.
It was also reported how Brown - who hasn't publicly commented since the news of his bankruptcy broke - saw his company, 'Wes Brown Limited' struck off last year, after failing to file accounts beyond April 2019 when it repaid a £17,000 loan to the former United star.
Brown's struggles comes after former Liverpool star Craig Bellamy recently spoke to Mail Sport about his own battles with bankruptcy last month - saying he felt like he was 'on death's row'.
'I have been living the last five or six years on Death Row, just waiting for someone to put me out,' he told Oliver Holt.
'I have been waiting for the cell door to open and someone to say: “Today’s the day”. It’s like the feeling of not being able to look forward to anything. All the money I’ve earned, I can’t get a mortgage. Financially, I have no future. The hurt of that. I can’t own anything. Everything’s gone.
‘If you get the wrong people advising you, it all haemorrhages, it all dwindles. It has got to the point where bankruptcy is a relief. It means I can just live again.'
Brown was also capped 23 times for England during his career and also played for Sunderland and Blackburn Rovers after he left United in 2011. He later played for Kerala Blasters in India before hanging up his boots in 2018.
