Slaven Bilic is closing on a £1.5million deal for QPR right back Darnell Furlong.

The West Bromwich Albion manager wants the athletic 23-year old to add extra pace and dynamism to his defence and hopes to get the transfer concluded over the next 24 hours.

Furlong is the son of former QPR striker Paul Furlong but is fast forging his own reputation after initially making a breakthrough under Chris Ramsey at Loftus Road when Rangers were in the Premier League.

Albion had an opening offer rejected last week but an agreement is expected on Monday.

Bilic, who saw Albion complete the £7m signing of striker Kenneth Zohore from Cardiff City on a four year contract over the weekend, is hoping to add at least another three players to his squad over the coming days in attack, midfield and defence.

Furlong's arrival will pave the way for 31-year-old defender Allan Nyom to leave, however, with the French full back due to sign for Spanish side Getafe.

Furlong has made over 60 appearances for QPR and had loan spells with Northampton, Cambridge United and Swindon Town.
