West Ham dug deep and held on to a goalless draw at home to Chelsea, who failed to make the most of periods of dominance.
Sarri was aiming to become only the third manager ever to win his first six Premier League games in charge, but the Hammers frustrated the visitors and dug deep to hold on to a commendable point.
Despite spending much of the first half under pressure, West Ham actually crafted the better chances, but Michail Antonio – starting in place of the injured Marko Arnautovic – squandered two presentable opportunities.
Alvaro Morata and Andriy Yarmolenko wasted glorious chances at either end after the interval, though opportunities were otherwise a rare commodity in the second half and the Hammers' rearguard action kept Chelsea at bay.
12' CHANCE! Hazard's shot saved
Creative stuff from the visitors. Hazard spins in behind after some neat touches. It's a tough angle from 15 yards and his effort doesn't trouble Fabianski. Chelsea turning the screw.
29' WHAT A CHANCE! Antonio's shot over the barv
Brilliant from Anderson, who sends Azpilicueta for a hot-dog with a splendid drop of the shoulder. He then finds the correct pass for Antonio in behind. The angle is tight and he doesn't look comfortable on his left foot - as the finish shows. Skied high and wide. Best moment of the match, that.
31' Amazing save from Kepa!
West Ham should be ahead. Yarmolenko this time drives at an exposed Chelsea defence. Luiz is beaten far too easily. The ball bobbles around the area and drops nicely to Antonio about four yards out. He thumps it straight at Kepa. Big moment.
44' CLOSE! Kante's header wide out
Chelsea burst into life down the right. Willian flicks a ball into the middle and Kante charges in.....he tries to flick a header towards the far corner but makes poor contact. Dribbles wide. Doesn't look natural in this attacking role does Kante.
51' CLOSE! Yarmolenko's shot just over the crossbar
West Ham again provide the spark. Yarmolenko is direct with the ball and cuts inside off the right. Chelsea allow him space for the strike and he takes it on. Whistles just over the crossbar. Kepa was worried.
66' Morata misses the best chance so far!
SAVE! A ball to the back post finds Luiz is acres of space he forces back across goal towards Morata. He's only seven yards out but Fabianski spreads himself. Top save.
