Hammers targeting Martin Braithwait; prefers Tottenham move
West Ham United continues to look for solutions in the center-forward department this summer and may have honed in on an affordable option in the vein of Barcelona’s Danish international Martin Braithwaite.
With Barca’s well-documented financial issues coming to a head this summer, Spanish outlet Sport has reported that the Hammers are keen to pounce on their difficult financial situation and strike a deal for the Esbjerg-native.
It is thought that West Ham has agreed to a deal in principle with Barca, but the player seems keen on a move to a different part of London given the expected vacancy in the wake of Harry Kane’s desired move to Manchester City. Should Kane complete his migration north, the Hammers could miss out on another target as they look to add reinforcements to their center-forward options, which includes only Michail Antonio at the minute.
Fine print remains in a deal for Serbian international center-back
West Ham United remains on track to secure a deal for Fiorentina’s highly-touted Serbian international center-back Nikola Milenković, with the Evening standard claiming a deal is close to being finalized for a fee of £14-million.
There is confusion around the nature of the financial package for the young standout, however, with multiple Italian outlets claiming a specific figure has yet to be finalized, though none have made mention of a deal teetering on the brink of falling through.
It is thought that the Hammers remain the only side with a legitimate interest in the Belgrade-native and FK Partizan youth product, while also retaining a desire to broker a deal for Chelsea’s Kurt Zouma as well. Should the expected deal for Milenković be completed, the Hammers would add another high-ceiling youngster to the spine of David Moyes’ overachieving outfit.
West Ham United have no intention of selling Declan Rice
In a summer that has seen two high profile moves for England internationals in Jack Grealish and Jadon Sancho, West Ham boss David Moyes is keen to not add Declan Rice‘s name to the list.
Moyes, when speaking with talkSPORT, said “We have some players that we value at £100million and we won’t be selling them. That is the way it is, you are not going to get rid of your better players, you don’t do it and if you are it is going to be huge money. So from that point of view, I think the clubs are right to do so, but I think there are an awful lot of other clubs at the moment that is probably not able to pay that money and look to those levels.”
Despite well-known interest from London rivals Chelsea this summer, the former Manchester United, Everton, and Real Sociedad manager intends to keep adding to what he believes is a good squad; “I think I have a good team but I think I need to try and add to it if I can but I want to try and do the right thing. We brought in Tomas Soucek, Vladimir Coufal and Jarrod Bowen in the last 12-18 months and all of them have been successful. If we can try and bring in another three who are as successful as them then that would be excellent but that is not always an easy thing to do.”
Rice had returned to training last week in preparations for a season of expectation at the London Stadium, and despite having yet to extend his current deal, there remains no indication that the player is angling for a move to greener pastures.
