What Manchester United players are already saying about Mount now – journalist

Journalist Jacob Steinberg has claimed that Manchester United players are now expecting Mason Mount to join them from Chelsea this summer.

He took to Twitter to announce that the 24-year-old had agreed personal terms with the Premier League side over a move.

It is now looking almost certain that Mount will be leaving Chelsea this summer, with just a year left on his current contract.

Liverpool were originally deemed the favourites to pull off a deal, however it seems they have fallen way down the pecking order to bring him in.

Last week, reports broke that United manager Erik ten Hag was personally leading his club's interest in the England international, with them now advancing in negotiations on the players' side.

Now, Steinberg has claimed that the players expect Mount to be at Old Trafford when the season begins.

United players expecting Mount

He said: “Am told that United players are expecting Mount to join them this summer. There's an agreement on personal terms but no fee agreed with Chelsea yet.

“Expectation is that Mount signs for United. Liverpool were the favourites not so long ago.”

The two teams will still need to come to an agreement over a transfer fee, with Chelsea still holding out for a big fee despite him close to entering the last 12 months of his contract.

Chelsea are safe in the knowledge that they need to sell before they can buy this summer due to consecutive big windows.

However, they are already looking at a number of players that can strengthen their side, which has led them to Manuel Ugarte from Sporting Lisbon.

They have apparently hit a stumbling block there when it comes to the wage they have offered the player, with them rivalling PSG for the deal.
