The biggest names in football will be dazzling in different countries for the first time in nearly a decade this year, but what boots will they wear?
Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have delighted football fans for over a decade, but this season they won't be going head to head - in La Liga at least.
However, the iconic duo will certainly find themselves fighting it out in the commercial world as the footballing figureheads of sportswear giants Adidas and Nike.
Both players are heavily involved in promotion of the newest gear from their partners, particularly the ones that they use the most: football boots.
As the 2018-19 season gets under way across Europe, Goal takes a look at what boots Messi and Ronaldo will be wearing this year.
What boots will Lionel Messi wear?
Messi is an Adidas athlete and will continue to wear the brand's boots in the foreseeable future.
The Argentine has worn a variety of Adidas' footwear over the years, but in the past few seasons he has been the face of the NEMEZIZ range and actually boasts his own unique design, which is known as 'NEMEZIZ MESSI'. He will be wearing these once again this season.
From his early appearances with Barcelona this season, it looks like Messi will be ditching the bright green boots he wore at the World Cup in Russia for a white, black and 'football blue' colourway in 2018-19.
The Adidas NEMEZIZ MESSI 18.1 are described as being built for players with agility, meaning they are tailor made for those who, like Messi, have a penchant for dribbling and slaloming through defences.
They possess the aptly named 'Agility Weave' technology and a supportive 'Agility Bandage', with a dual lock collar for extra ankle protection.
A Lionel Messi logo is incorporated into the design and is situated near the heel of the boots.
*In countries where Euro is the currency.
If you want to mimic Messi by wearing the same boots as he does it will set you back a considerable sum, but NEMEZIZ MESSI 18.1 range are actually cheaper than the NEMEZIZ style.
According to Adidas' official website, the NEMEZIZ MESSI 18.1 boots will cost £179.95 in the United Kingdom (UK) or $225 in the United States (US). For countries that use Euro, the boots are priced at €219.95.
Different versions of the boots are also available at cheaper prices.
What boots will Cristiano Ronaldo wear?
Ronaldo has been associated with Nike since his breakthrough as a professional and the Portugal captain is without doubt the star attraction for the brand's football range.
His early appearances in a Juventus shirt have shown him to favour Nike's Mercurial Vapor 360 Elite boots, which he also wore at the World Cup in Russia. The 33-year-old appears to prefer the white, orange and metallic grey colourway.
Of course, that could well change as the season progresses and depending on whether or not Nike launches fresh designs.
*In countries where Euro is the currency.
Since the Mercurial Vapor 360 Elite boots have been out for a number of months, Nike is offering a discount on the range, which suggests that a new design is on its way.
Originally, according to Nike's official website, the boots cost £209.95 in the UK or $275 in the US, with a price of €240 attached to them in certain European countries.
However, they are now available at the discounted price of £146.47 in the UK, $219.97 in the US and €167.97 in Europe.
