Football may have come to a standstill due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but that hasn't stopped Manchester City from continuing their quest to capture promising talent from across the world.

The latest talented youngster to be signed up by the City Football Group is Peruvian teenager Kluiverth Aguilar, after his club Alianza Lima announced they had agreed a deal with the Blues.

Alianza, who have won the Peruvian top-flight title 23 times and finished second on 22 occasions, revealed that Aguilar would stay with them until he turns 18 on May 5, 2021.

Alianza explained it was the "most important transfer of Peruvian football to Europe in recent years" and the first transfer between the two clubs.

While it's likely that Aguilar will initially join one of CFG's many clubs, here's all you need to know on the club's latest acquisition.

Name: Kluiverth Aguilar

Date of Birth: May 5, 2003

Birthplace: Lima, Peru

Position: Right-back

Career history:

Aguilar arrived at Alianza from cross-city rivals Sporting Cristal in March 2019 and after impressing in the youth ranks the 'speedy full-back' made his professional debut against Alianza Universidad in November of the same year.

The 16-year-old then established himself as a regular member of the side and showed his versatility by also playing on the right-wing, and went undefeated in his first five appearances for the club.

Aguilar has played nine games for Alianza and has also represented his country at under-17 and under-23 level.

What comes next:

MEN Sport understands that once Aguilar reaches 18 he will be sent to other clubs in the City Football Group rather than immediately joining City.

That is likely to mean Aguilar will begin his journey at New York City (United States), Melbourne City (Australia), Yokohama Marinos (Japan), Montevideo City Torque (Uruguay), Girona (Spain), Sichuan Jiuniu (China) or Mumbai City FC (India).

What Aguilar said:

"Going to City is something big in my career. I'm happy they have signed me.

"It is a club with players, a coach and fans that are all extraordinary. My goal is to become an outstanding player in the first team.

"I am glad that the possibility of moving to Europe presented itself to me while I am an Alianza player."

What Alianza said:

"Within its policy of signing players with great potential, Manchester City saw in Kluiverth Aguilar a talent capable of playing at the highest level.

"Alianza Lima is proud that a footballer from its team can link his future to that of one of the most prestigious clubs in the world."
