Manchester United fans have identified a striking option that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer must consider - Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez.

The United boss confirmed the club are looking to bolster their options in the final third after allowing both Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez to leave the club without a replacement in the summer.

Anthony Martial 's return from injury gives the Reds a welcome boost but options remain limited if either the Frenchman or Marcus Rashford are sidelined again.

United fans have called for Solskjaer to target Martinez after he netted against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.

Reports in Italy suggest United have answered their cries and have registered an interest in the forward. FC Inter News claim that the Reds are one of many clubs to have taken an interest in the Argentine who has a €110m release clause in his contract at the San Siro. It is understood that Inter aren't looking to sell their star.

But who is the forward and what can be bring to Old Trafford?

Name: Lautaro Martinez

Position: Striker

Birthplace: Bahia Blanca, Argentina

Strongest foot: Right

Agent: Alberto Yaque

Career history: After a string of impressive performances in the youth ranks at Racing Club in Argentina, Martinez was soon promoted to the senior ranks but almost left the club due to homesickness. Ultimately, he was persuaded to stay and netted 53 goals in 64 appearances for the reserve team.

His performances caught the eye of Real Madrid and the Spanish giants had agreed a deal with Racing Club to sign the youngster. However, Martinez rejected the move to stay in his home country, his father later revealing he wasn't ready for the move.

"In 2015, everything was agreed with Real Madrid but he made the decision not to go," he told Tyc and La Red in 2015. "He was not ready and decided to stay at Racing."

With the goals continuing to flow, another move to Europe was mooted, this time it was Atletico Madrid who were leading the race for his signature. But again the move collapsed, despite Martinez undergoing a medical, after he signed a new deal with Racing instead.

In July 2018, he finally left the club, joining Inter for a reported fee of 23million. After a difficult first season in the Serie A, the 22-year-old is finally starting to prove his worth and has flourished under the guidance of Antonio Conte.

Martinez has netted four goals in eight league appearances as well as two goals in just three showings in the Champions League. Therefore, it's no surprise to see Inter reportedly attempt to tie him down to a new deal to increase his release clause.

What has been said about Lautaro Martinez:

"I see him working hard, he has a great future in European football as well as with the Argentina national team. Hopefully, we will have him for a long time. We are talking about a 22-year-old and he has a lot growth ahead of him," - former Inter Milan captain Javier Zanetti.

"Lautaro Martinez is already a champion. He scores in all sorts of ways, helps out his teammates, is smart and fast and I like him," - Argentinian icon Gabriel Bastistuta.

What could Lautaro Martinez bring to Manchester United: A quick, strong, hard-working forward - Martinez is exactly the type of player that Solskjaer is looking to sign.

The youngster possesses excellent dribbling skills and pace that sees him bypass defenders with ease, averaging 4.64 dribbles per game; significantly more than reported United transfer targets Mario Mandzukic (0.4) and Callum Wilson (2.3).

He isn't afraid to shoot, averaging 3.78 shots per 90 minutes according to Wyscout - more than both Martial and Rashford.

Stats suggest Martinez is the natural number nine than United have been crying out for, averaging more touches in the box (5.44) than both of the United front men.
