Arsenal midfielder Miguel Azeez, 20, is in talks over a loan move to Wigan Athletic.
Azeez made his senior debut for the Gunners in a Europa League game against Dundalk in December 2020, but has not played for Mikel Arteta's men since.
He was sent out on loan to Portsmouth for the first half of last season, and has just returned from a temporary spell at Spanish second division side UD Ibiza.
Another loan could now be on the cards for Azeez, with Wigan keen on bringing him in until the end of the season as they look to stave off the threat of relegation.
The Latics are currently bottom of the Championship after picking up just six wins from their 26 league matches this term.
Kolo Toure replaced Leam Richardson in the dugout at the end of November and is trying to turn the team's fortunes around.
The club have already wrapped up the signing of former Tottenham and Liverpool defender Steven Caulker on a short-term deal.
Toure will not purely rely on experience to get his side out of trouble, though, with Azeez potentially coming in to add some energy in the middle of the park.
if Wigan can get a deal over the line quickly, Azeez could be in line to make his debut for the club when they travel to fellow strugglers Cardiff on Saturday.
