Wolves will be playing in Europe next season, after clinching a Europa League spot courtesy of Manchester City's FA Cup final demolition of Watford.

Nuno Espirito Santo's side finished seventh in the Premier League but would have missed out on the Europa League if Watford had lifted the FA Cup at Wembley, due to the perk of winning the competition.

City pulled off a domestic treble by smashing the Hornet 6-0, confirming that Wolves will be playing European football next season for the first time since 1980.

The Midlands side were only promoted to the Premier League last season, but took to the top flight with aplomb and pulled off a series of crucial results throughout the campaign.

To mark the progress, Wolves took to social media to rejoice with fans and share a video in anticipation for next season's European action.

The club uploaded an image of the eyes of the wolf which comprising the team crest, before an animation quickly turned it into the silhouette of the Europa League trophy.

Manchester United, who finished sixth in the league, also have their city neighbours to thank.

As a result of City's FA Cup heroics, the Red Devils will now go straight into the Europa League group stages.

City's win also means Watford will not be able to take part in next season's Community Shield.

The fixture pits the Premier League champions against the FA Cup winners.

As City lifted both trophies, second-placed Liverpool will take part in next season's curtain-raiser at the national stadium.
