Wolves mock Forest's pre-match tweet with brutal response after victory Steve Cooper's side

Wolves' social media team provided a cheeky response to Nottingham Forest after interim boss Steve Davis led the club to victory over Steve Cooper's team at Molineux.

Ahead of the Premier League clash, Forest's social media team had shared a mocked-up image of striker Emmanuel Dennis with some baby wolves alongside the caption 'playtime'.

However, the pre-match antics would ultimately prove to be a poor decision as the newly-promoted side fell to yet another league defeat.

Captain Ruben Neves scored a second-half penalty to end Wolves' goal-drought, while Forest's summer-signing Dennis was substituted after failing to make an impact.

With the game nearing its conclusion, the initial tweet was deleted by Forest, but the social media sparring did not end there.

After securing three points for just the second time this season, Wolves took to Twitter to jokingly hit back with their own post.

The club's rebuttal featured a Wolves-branded axe lodged into a tree stump in the middle of the Molineux pitch.

In a clear reference to the initial post, Wolves captioned their response 'Playtime's over.'

Following the game Wolves' caretaker boss revealed that Neves had shared Forest's post in the club's group chat, with the mockup serving as an unlikely source of motivation prior to the game.

Neves wasn't finished there though. After the game the Portuguese midfielder shared his own mockup of the now-infamous tweet portraying himself alongside a trio of wolves.
