Wolves are in talks over a deal for Arsenal’s £20million rated defender Ainsley Maitland-Niles.
The 22-year-old hopes to complete the move this week on a four-year contract once the fee and terms have been finalised.
Recent reports have suggested that the Gunners player was also interesting north London rivals Tottenham, as well as Newcastle, but a move to Molineux looks most likely at this point.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is planning a revamp of his squad following an eighth-placed finish in the Premier League last season.
Maitland-Niles, who has come through the Arsenal academy, is expected to be one first-team squad member on his way out this summer.
Sokratis, Matteo Guendouzi, Lucas Torreira, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Sead Kolasinac, as well as Shkodran Mustafi and Rob Holding, who have played key roles for Arteta in recent weeks, are also in the shop window.
Arteta knows he must sell players to generate the money required to land his first-choice transfer targets, and he could even offload Alexandre Lacazette or Hector Bellerin if a sizeable offer is made for either player.
Maitland-Niles played 32 times last season, and started in the FA Cup final victory against Chelsea at the beginning of August.
The academy graduate has played 100 times for the club since his debut six years ago.
The 22-year-old has played mostly at right back, though his natural position is in the centre of midfield.
