D'Margio Wright-Phillips has labelled Raheem Sterling 'the best' after training with Manchester City's first team ahead of their second leg semi-final clash with Burton Albion.

Despite City's 9-0 scoreline in the first leg, Wright-Phillips is not expected to face the League One outfit on Wednesday night.

D'Margio, who is the son of former Manchester City and Chelsea winger Shaun, took to Instagram to heap praise on Sterling.

He uploaded a picture of himself embracing Sterling alongside the caption: 'Learning from the best'.

Wright-Phillips has trained with Manchester City's first team on a handful of occasions but he is yet to feature under Pep Guardiola.

The 17-year-old wideman has been in impressive form for City's Under 18 side this season, scoring twice and claiming eight assists in 14 appearances.

He has been on the books since 2011 and has also played for England Under 16s and Under 17s.

Speaking to City's website last year, he underlined the influence his dad has had on his career and wants to wear his No 24 for City.

'Some people might think I've got in because of my dad but that's not the case,' Wright Phillips said.

'My chosen number would have to be my dad's old number, 24. At the moment my shirt number depends on where I play or if I am on the bench.

'I was a City fan growing up so it's fantastic to be here. Ever since I can remember I've always wanted to be a footballer.'

D'Margio doesn't only have a famous dad as his uncle — Bradley Wright-Phillips — plies his trade in MLS for New York Red Bulls after also progressing through the ranks at Manchester City.

And his grandfather Ian Wright, who adopted Shaun when he was three, is an Arsenal legend and now works as a pundit for the BBC.

Shaun finished his career in Major League soccer in the United States, via a spell at Queens Park Rangers, with New York Red Bulls and second tier side Phoenix Rising.

Guardiola has confirmed he will ring the changes for their second leg clash with Burton with Benjamin Mendy expected to start.
