Ashley Young admitted it has been 'disappointing' for Manchester United that Paul Pogba has been out injured for so long but has praised the rest of the team for stepping up.
Pogba has not played since United's draw against Arsenal in September and is expected to miss the next few weeks of action while he continues to recover from an ankle injury.
Young was full of praise for his teammates and admitted that when Pogba returns to training, at the end of the month, the competition for places will increase.
"In this squad there are a lot of players who can come in and play in those positions," Young replied when asked if United were missing Pogba. "We have great competition for places throughout the squad. You have to be on your toes 24-7 and give 100 per cent in training.
"We have to go out there and perform and it is not difficult (for us). Obviously when you have a player like Paul missing it is disappointing but the boys that have played in those positions have done fantastically well.
"It will be great when he comes back in to training but like I say it is competition for places."
